Job Description

The Role / Job :

As a senior software engineer, you will be working for our Processed Glass production units and be involved throughout the full development lifecycle, with specific responsibilities in the creation and elaboration of business requirements, functional design specifications, development and maintenance of production-related software.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand client requirements and translate them in application features
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; interacting with users; studying systems flows, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle
  • Perform unit testing
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications
  • Train key-users and end-users
  • Provide technical support to users to ensure first and second level assistance
  • Look proactively for continuous improvement of the applications
  • Deliver technical documents to accurately represent application design and code, and user manuals to guarantee efficient use of the IT systems

Requirements :

  • BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject – or equivalent work experience
  • Strong and proven experience of software development and deployment in the industrial world (real-time, equipments steering, production optimization)
  • Strong & proven experience with Fortran programming
  • Solid knowledge of: OO development tools (C++, .NET, Java) as an asset
  • Knowledge of the following operating systems: Open-VMS, Windows
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases concepts: SQLServer, Informix, Oracle
  • Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles
